Trauma-informed residential treatment and transitional recovery community
Project Narrative & Community Context
Harbor City Safe Place addresses one of California's most critical infrastructure shortages: dedicated residential treatment facilities (RTC) and transitional supportive housing. Designed with trauma-informed architecture principles, the property integrates private sleeping quarters, shared group therapy rooms, secure landscaped open spaces, and staff offices for 24/7 care providers.
Development & Entitlement Approach
Co-developed with licensed healthcare operators and community advocates, aligning zoning and facility licensing with California behavioral health transformation funding.
Modular & Construction Strategy
Standardized bedroom suites and therapy pods manufactured with soundproof partitions and non-institutional finishes to maintain a welcoming, residential healing environment.
Community Impact & Programming
Supplies 30 units of stabilization and step-down recovery housing, helping hospitals and local continuum-of-care networks transition unhoused individuals into structured therapeutic settings.
